    IN 2004, DANIEL CONTI FORMED THE BAND, DRAWING BACK. THE ORIGINAL BAND MATES CONSISTED OF VOCALIST JOHNNY COLOMBO,
    DRUMMER DAVE SIMS, AND BASSIST KURT MANTHEIY. IN THE BEGINNING OF 2005, SINGER MICHAEL RAPSTINE JOINED THE BAND, AND LATER
    REPLACED KURT ON BASS.  THE BAND DISMEMBERED IN THE SPRING. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2005, DANIEL RECRUITED DRUMMER ERIC
    CARDENAS AND BASSIST HARRIS STEDMAN.  HARRIS LEFT THE BAND IN THE SUMMER OF 2006.   JOSH BRIDGES PLAYED BASS FOR THE BAND
    FROM THE FALL OF 2006 UNTIL FERUARY OF 2007.IN JANUARY OF 2007 ORIGINAL DRUMMER DAVE SIMS,  REPLACED ERIC CARDENAS .MARK
    D'ASTO , ON BASS, JOINED DRAWING BACK AS THE FIRST OLDER MEMBER OF THE BAND.In July of 2007,DR D became the Drawing
    Back bass player. We are so excited to have his wisdom! .JUNE 2008 UPDATE! ALEX SALINAS HAS JOINED THE BAND PLAYING
    DRUMS! THE BAND KNOWS OVER 4 HOURS OF MUSIC AND PLAY GUITAR DRIVEN BLUESY ROCK! THEY ARE TEARING UP THE STREETS OF AUSTIN!

    18 years old, Heart of Drawing Back.  Began playing guitar around his 14th birthday.  "I just decided to pick it up, because I didn't
    have anything else better to do.  Plus, I liked hearing my dad play.  One day I asked for him to teach me. He taught me everything he
    knew. It just went from there."

    Stevie Ray Vaughan.

We have also completed a live
demo. We threw it together at
the last minute to take to
Memphis for the International
Blues Challenge. It updates
Daniel's talent from the 16
year old demo,but it does not
capture what you can see at a
show! The boys are working
hard in the studio to get a
"real studio album"out!
In the 4 years since the band Drawing Back was formed,the members have consisted of many
talented people, They have all been a part of the great guitar driven blues that Daniel is known
for. Daniel has learned and grown from all of them! Currently, Daniel is playing with a number
of wonderful mentors,You will usually find Dr. D walking a fine line on the bass, with Alex
Salinas keeping the beat on the drums.

Dr. D, remembers his late dad (who played upright bass in a be-bop jazz trio) playing many early jazz records for him while singing/animating the bass lines to
him...He is self taught but admits to having stolen licks from many bass players over the years, some of whom he remembers and some not.
Bassists he does remember stealing riffs from: Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Tim Bogert, John Paul Jones, Andy Fraser, Geezer Butlzer, John Entwhistle, Gary Thain,
Clive Chaman, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Harvey Brooks, Willie Dixon, John Mcvie, Leo Lyons, Tony Reeves, Richard McCracken, James Jamerson, Tommy Shannon,
Johnny B. Gayden, Ron Wood (Jeff Beck Years), Bass Players on early T-Bone Walker, early Albert Collins and early Freddie King records........
Some bassists he remembers enjoying listeing to and trying to steal licks from but failing due to lack of chops: Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Rocco
Prestia, Eddie Gomez, Byron Miller, Alphonso Johnson and many other
Listens to and enjoys all kind of music except country and deathmetal...played in many different blues-rock, 80's punk band, various cover bands playing all styles of
music.
Has been involved in music business in different areas including owning an indie record label (with blues bands, pop, grunge, stoner rock and heavy metal), setting
up pressing and distribution deals, marketing and promotions, radio airplay, artist management (including helping Carolyn Wonderland acquire a publishing deal with
Warner Bros), booking (local, national and international tours), setting up benefit concerts, producer for some local bands and also produced an Uncle John Turner
album, which featured Johnny Winter, Tommy Shannon, Alan Haynes, Joey Long, Benny Valerio and Brett Reid.
As a non-professional bass player, has played in bands and/or recorded with the following well known arists: Uncle John Turner (late 80's and early 90's played bass
with Johnny on one track for Unc's album), Joe Kelley and Blue Shadow Band (featuring Uncle John Turner early 90's), Joey Long (Late 80's and early 90's)
Moved to Austin in 1998 when his wife became gravely ill and after 1999, he has played in bands with Uncle John Turner, Luke Cutchen, Walter Higgs, Carson
Alexander and has shared stage at Jams or sit-in invitations with Jay Hooks, Bert Wills, Carolyn Wonderland, Tracy Conover, Kayla Reeves, Eric Tessmer, Alan
Haynes, Pinetop Perkins, Altar Boyz, Johell and Red Roosters, Andy Mctyre, Sonny Wolf....and the highlight of his jamming career, once jammed with Stan Webb in a
pub in London many many years ago...
Most recent group was Uncle John Turner Band... a European tour with Uncle John Turner and Luke Cutchen was planned for Fall of 2007 but unfortunately his
friend Uncle John Turner became ill and sadly passed away July 2007......now enjoys playing in Drawing Back with the highly talented and gifted young man, Daniel
Conti !
